ENVECO S.A. is active in the field of providing specialized environmental consultancy services and is EN ISO 9001:2008 certified by TUV Austria Hellas for the quality assurance procedures applied in its consultancy work.
The fields of activity were formed in line with the EU and international market demands and the specialized experience of the company’s staff. Specifically, the fields of activity of ENVECO SA include issues related to:

HELECTOR S.A specializes in the field of waste management and waste to energy applications. HELECTOR is active and experienced in every part of the whole waste treatment chain, from reception to disposal and site rehabilitation. Its activities focus on the most valuable pieces, like recycling, treatment and disposal with many references in design, construction and operation of such facilities. By implementing its high level technological portfolio, the company aims at improving the environmental effects of wastes, by reducing the waste volume disposed in landfills, reducing the emissions and the greenhouse effect, preventing the pollution of water resources and recovering energy and materials out of wastes.
In the field of waste management, HELECTOR is a leader in the Greek market and a strong player globally. It implements technological know – how with many patents through German subsidiaries (proved technology in the strictest market) and exclusively co-operative companies. The company implements also Mechanical and Optical sorting, as well as anaerobic digestion as a method for treating organic wastes, while producing biogas for energy applications.
HELECTOR has many references in design, construction and operation of such plants, in Greece, Cyprus and Germany, great projects under development (Croatia, Russia, Jordan) and many other under evaluation (Abu Dhabi, Nicosia, Israel etc.). Through installations under operation in Greece, Cyprus and Germany, the company treats more than 800.000 tons of waste p.a. and undertakes the operation of landfill facilities with annual capacities more than 2 million tons of waste p.a.
In the field of waste to energy applications, HELECTOR owns two power plants (total capacity ~ 29 MWel) fueled with LFG (Landfill Gas), including the biggest LFG plant in Europe (24MWel) in Ano Liossia sanitary landfill in Athens.

The Municipality of Polygyros (MoP) is a public body responsible for the administration of an area equal to 951sq.km. According to the 2011 census, the population is 22,048 cap. MoP lays under the administration of the Region of Central
Macedonia, which has been established under the recent framework “New Architecture of the Self-government and of decentralised Administration” (2010).
The administration is responsible for various services to citizens, including:
-Potable water
-Waste management
-Education & schools
-Culture - Tourism
-Local economic development
-Social welfare
-Technical infrastructure construction-operation-maintennance
-Public order
-e-government
The main administrative instruments are the Municipality Council and the Mayor.
Through them, 5 vice-Mayors are nominated with the jurisdictions on the abovementioned services. The vice-Mayors are supported by the body of municipality employees.
MoP is the supervising authority of the Body for Solid Waste Management (FoDSA).
This body is responsible for waste management and disposal in the area. Consequently, MoP is directly interested in waste valorization and waste management optimization.

The National Technical University of Athens - NTUA, founded in 1836, is the oldest and most prestigious educational institution of Greece in the field of technology. NTUA employs aroung 700 people as academic staff, 300 scientific assistants and 400 administrative and technical staff. In the last five years more that 1500 research projects have been assigned to NTUA by public organizations, private enterprises, as well as by EC programmes.
NTUA participates through two Laboratories of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, namely the Laboratory of Mining and Environmental Technology (LMET) and the Laboratory of Mineral Processing (LMiPr).
LMET has an extensive experience of more than 25 years in mine design, environmental mining, financial and cost benefit analysis, environmental valuation, risk assessment and management of contaminated land and hazardous waste management, utilization of mining and other waste. The Laboratory has been involved in more than 50 research projects funded by both the private and public sector, along with research programs funded by the EC. Currently, LMET has 4 permanent full-time academic staff, 2 pos-doc researchers, and several Ph.D. and M.Sc. students who act as research assistants. LMET owns high quality technological laboratory and field equipment and state-of-the-art mining and environmental software, estimated at a cost of approximately 3 million Euro.
LMiPr was established 45 years ago. It is fully equipped with mineral processing laboratory equipment and has an extensive experience in mineral processing methods study and development, processing study of treatment methods (e.g. gravity separation, wet and dry magnetic separation, etc.) and study of the properties of ores, industrial minerals and rocks. In addition, it has carried out pre- and feasibility studies regarding the design of mineral processing production plants, environmental studies of mineral processing plants, etc.
